Martyna's Journey of Growth and Dedication
Martyna, a 24-year-old from Poland, exemplifies the spirit of service, adventure, and academic pursuit. Her journey began in high school when she embarked on a path to become a lifeguard, setting the stage for a remarkable story of resilience and compassion.
At the age of 17, she completed a professional course, successfully becoming a lifeguard, lifeboat operator, and motorboat helmsman. For a girl of that age, this was not only the beginning of a new stage in her life but also an important step towards embarking on a brand-new lifestyle. As a lifeguard, she carried a profound reverence for life and a deep sense of responsibility and duty that accompanied her work at all times. She and her colleagues were always prepared to respond to any emergency situation, striving their utmost to protect the lives and safety of visitors.
Over the years, she played the role of a summer lifeguard along the Polish coastlines and lakes, witnessing her own growth amidst the beautiful scenery of shimmering waters, mountains, and sandy beaches. When winter arrived, she transitioned to the large indoor swimming pools in her city, monitoring safety within these enclosed water spaces. Different environments brought different challenges, but the fundamental principles of rescue never changed for her. At lakes and oceans, she remained vigilant to weather changes and water currents; in swimming pools, she paid close attention to crowded areas, constantly on the lookout for any potential signs of danger. Regardless of her location, she upheld the same principles and determination: ensuring the safety of every single person.
Through years of water rescue practice, she not only accumulated invaluable knowledge and skills in civilian medicine but, more importantly, learned the ability to remain calm in times of crisis, efficiently assess situations, and make the right decisions. These intangible qualities were far more precious to her than mere book knowledge. Simultaneously, she was eager to share these experiences with others during safety education activities, emphasizing the importance of safety awareness. She understood that the power of an individual is limited, and it is only when more people become involved and form a consensus that their influence can grow exponentially.
Paramilitary Training and War Readiness Preparations
"My adventure with helping others and medicine started in high school," Martyna recalls. "I felt a calling to serve and protect, and becoming a lifeguard was just the beginning."
When Martyna left her hometown to attend university in 2019, she joined the paramilitary organization "Jednostka Strzelecka 3102 GRYF". The training principles of this group were similar to those of Polish military soldiers. Their training included courses on green, black, and blue tactics, engineering, defense against weapons of mass destruction, and battlefield medical care. Additionally, they had their own shooting range, allowing for frequent practice with pistols and rifles. Every month, they participated in 3-day field training exercises to hone their skills. An 8-day intensive training was also organized annually to evaluate what they had learned over the year.
Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, battlefield medical care has become increasingly crucial, prompting Martyna and her comrades to place greater emphasis on this aspect of their training. It was during this time that they were introduced to Rhino Rescue products. Thanks to this high-quality equipment, they were able to significantly improve their battlefield medical skills within a matter of months. For them, training under simulated real-world battlefield conditions was of utmost importance.
They understood the devastation caused by war and were therefore committed to enhancing their self-defense and humanitarian relief capabilities. At the same time, they recognized the importance of maintaining peace and avoiding armed conflicts. Through rigorous paramilitary training, Martyna and her colleagues developed physical fitness and discipline, preparing them for any future profession they might pursue.
Frontline Service and Scholarly Pursuits
Amidst the global Covid-19 pandemic, Martyna's expertise in first aid became invaluable. Utilizing her qualifications in KPP (Qualified First Aid Course), she worked tirelessly alongside medical professionals in hospitals, providing care and comfort to patients in need. Despite the immense challenges and heart-wrenching moments, Martyna's resolve never wavered, serving as a beacon of hope during humanity's darkest hours.

"Working on the front lines during the pandemic was one of the most challenging experiences of my life," Martyna reflects. "But being able to make a difference, even in the smallest ways, made it all worth it."
In addition to her humanitarian efforts, Martyna is a scholar with a passion for learning. She holds a bachelor's degree in Tourism and Recreation and is on track to graduate with a bachelor's degree in Nursing and a master's degree in Human Resources Management. Her academic pursuits complement her practical experience, enriching her understanding of healthcare and organizational leadership.
"Studying nursing has been incredibly fulfilling," Martyna shares. "It's a field where I can directly impact people's lives and make a meaningful difference.
Passion for Sports and Overcoming Challenges
"Sports have always been a big part of my life," Martyna says with a smile. "They keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of pushing through obstacles to reach my goals."
Beyond her professional endeavors, Martyna finds solace and exhilaration in sports. From skiing in the Alps to sailing the seas, she embraces the beauty and challenges of nature. As a triathlon enthusiast, she pushes her limits, participating in marathons, duathlons, and triathlons with unwavering determination.
Martyna's story is one of courage, compassion, and continuous growth. Whether she's saving lives, advancing her education, or conquering new athletic feats, she remains an inspiration to all who have the privilege of knowing her.
Today, the lifeguard's work has become an integral part of her life. Every rescue, every preventive activity, serves as a testament to the value of this profession. It not only provides her with invaluable life experiences but, more importantly, gives her the opportunity to save lives in critical moments. This experience is far more precious than any amount of money and motivates her to continue on this extraordinary path, putting the lifesaving principle into action, until the day when she and many others can work together to create a safer living environment for all.
