Once upon a time in Austria, there lived an extraordinary man named Matei Florin. At the age of 38, Matei had already experienced a lifetime's worth of adventures. Originally from Romania, he had been residing in Austria for the past five years, where he found his calling in the security industry.

Beautiful Chilhood
"I grew up in Romania and I had a very beautiful child. I remember that from a young age I was attracted by the law enforcement and military lifestyle. My father is a former military officer with a long career in this line of work. I remember as a child at kindergarten I cried when my father was bringing me in the morning because I wanted him to take me to work with him. Many times this work :)))) And being with him there I was receiving a training rifle and helmet and other military equipment and all the day I was running around in the military unit yard, shooting and imagining myself being a soldier."
Matei's fascination with the law enforcement and military lifestyle began at a young age. Growing up in Romania, he had an idyllic childhood filled with beautiful memories. His father, a former military officer with an illustrious career, heavily influenced Matei's interests. Even as a child, Matei yearned to follow in his father's footsteps. In fact, he would often cry at kindergarten drop-offs, desperately wanting to accompany his father to work. Luckily, his father would occasionally oblige, granting him the opportunity to explore the military unit yard, donning a training rifle, helmet, and other military gear. Matei's imagination soared as he ran around the yard, playing the role of a courageous soldier.
Security Role
Matei's current profession was the culmination of various experiences that shaped his journey. Inspired by his father and other family members who served in law enforcement and the military, Matei decided to attend the Police school. Over a decade of his life was dedicated to the police force, with nine years spent as an operator in a tactical unit. However, in 2015, Matei embarked on a new chapter and ventured into the private military sector. He underwent rigorous training as a Maritime Security Operator (MSO) and eventually became a Team Leader for an Israeli maritime security company. For over three years, Matei courageously led anti-piracy missions in high-risk areas such as the Gulf of Aden, the coast of Somalia, and Nigeria, safeguarding commercial vessels. While his time in the private security industry continued, Matei transitioned into the role of a Close Protection Operative (CPO).
Necessary For Survival
Through his encounters with dangerous and violent situations, Matei developed a profound understanding of the crucial elements necessary for survival. Knowledge and tools emerged as the two pillars essential in such scenarios. Matei stressed the importance of having both to truly thrive. He illustrated his point with a simple example: possessing the knowledge to operate a firearm and neutralize a threat during an active shooter situation would be futile if the appropriate tool wasn't readily available. The same principle applied to applying a tourniquet to stop severe bleeding. Matei believed that improvisation could lead to failure when lives were at stake, emphasizing the significance of possessing the right tools and knowledge.
TRIBE 13:Professional Knowledge
Matei's passion for teaching and sharing his expertise led him to create the Tactical Combat System (TCS). Combining blade combat, firearm tactics, and trauma medicine, TCS became a modern combat system taught to law enforcement, military personnel, security professionals, and even civilians across Europe. Under the banner of his project, TRIBE 13, Matei offered comprehensive courses, seminars, and personalized training on topics such as active shooter response, trauma medicine, edge weapons training, and survival skills. TRIBE 13 also provided online classes to help students grasp theoretical concepts and learn fundamental skills. The instructors at TRIBE 13 possessed exceptional expertise in operating in hostile environments, ensuring the delivery of superior training, meticulous evaluation, and unwavering support while upholding the highest ethical standards. Matei's mission was clear—to equip civilians without access to technical and systematic training in modern combat tactics, trauma medicine, and survival with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to ensure their survival in violent or emergency situations.
Everyone Is A Protector
What brought Matei the greatest joy was empowering individuals and cultivating within them the mindset of becoming protectors. Whether it was their own lives, their families, or those around them, Matei believed society needed more protectors. Witnessing parents teaching their children as young as 10 or 12 years old how to apply a tourniquet and save lives brought Matei immense satisfaction. It was in these moments that he saw the impact of his teachings and the transmission of life-saving skills to the younger generation.
Discover Rhino Rescue
Amidst his remarkable journey, Matei discovered Rhino Rescue, a company that caught his attention through a YouTube video demonstrating their tourniquet. Intrigued by their commitment to quality and effectiveness, Matei acquired a range of trauma equipment from Rhino Rescue, including tourniquets, chest seals, chitosan gauze, splint kits, and needle decompression kits. He found their products to be top-notch, using them extensively in his training sessions and tests. In fact, Matei eagerly anticipated a significant international event—a two-day joint seminar with combative legend Lee Morison—where he would showcase Rhino Rescue equipment during edge weapons combat and trauma medicine sessions.
Protect Lives, Families And The World
Gratitude overflowed within Matei as he reflected upon his life. He considered himself truly blessed by God, leading a fulfilling and meaningful existence. Dividing his energy among three vital aspects, Matei prioritized his family above all else. Alongside his dedication to his loved ones, his heart and soul resided in the TRIBE 13 project. The opportunity to share his knowledge and empower others to become better protectors brought him immeasurable satisfaction. And lastly, Matei continuously pursued personal development, always seeking to enhance his training and expand his learning.
